Saturday Cinema Creative Challenge #53/Elizabeth-The Golden Age

I was chosen to be the guest designer over at Saturday Cinema Creative Challenges this week. For my designer spot, I had to create a card based on the movie "Elizabeth-The Golden Age." The added challenge was to have at least one crown on your project too. I can't tell you how much I "stressed" over this card. :) First the "pressure" of wanting it to be really good (you know if you are the "guest designer," it HAS to be GOOD. Wink!) :) Then the stress of coming up with something for this movie that would do it justice.

I remembered a stamp I purchased from Ebay a few years ago that was an Henry VIII image. Since Henry VIII was Elizabeth's father, why wouldn't that work? :) So then the wheels are turning....I could make a father type of card. I searched for a quote that I felt would be fitting the movie and found the one on the card. I thought it was perfect for Elizabeth. Without her father's protection, she probably would have been killed at a young age (since being Anne Boleyn's daughter was not a popular thing.) :) On my trip to Hobby Lobby last week, I found the crown stickers by EK Success and then I was on a roll. :)

Anyway here is the finished result. (My photo is not the greatest since it was cloudy yesterday and my husband has not finished that "promised" light box YET.") :)
The card is prettier in person (please take my word on that.) :)

Along Came A Spider Card

I tell you I've become addicted to doing challenges on the various blogs. :) Today's card is one I did for the Crazy 4 Challenges site. This week challenge was to have some type of "sewing" on your card. I used my sewing maching to create the spider's string of web. The orange paper, the cardstock sticker, glitter brads and epoxy sticker are by Little Yellow Bicycle's Trick Or Treat Collection. I got the spider web punch on Ebay this week at a great price (but I still "need" the border that goes with it). :) The silver foil board is by Grafix (love their gold and silver foil board).

Another rainy looking day in Alabama. Hope it doesn't rain out the football game tonight. :) Enjoy your Friday. :)

MoJo Madness #107 - Contest

My card for today is based on the sketch over at MoJo Monday. The minute I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to "play." :) The papers are by Cosmo Cricket and the rubber stamps are by Prima Marketing (butterfly) and Hampton Art (sentiment).

My trip yesterday was a success....got jeans for my youngest daughter. Now she won't freeze to death (wink). :) Ran in Hobby Lobby but I failed to read the "small" print in the ad. Yes, the punches were 50% off BUT just The Paper Studio brand. :( That foiled my plans to get some of those new EK Success border punches. I came home richer but sadder. :) I only bought one corner rounder punch (my old one is starting to act up). Oh well, as Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day." :) How is your Thursday treating you? :)

2 Sketches 4 You #36

Have a quick post for you. I have a lot of chores today. AND this afternoon when school lets out, I'm taking my youngest to get some jeans. She is excited about that but I'm excited because I will get to visit one of my favorite stores....Hobby Lobby. :) Since they are 65 miles from where I live, it is treat! They have punches on sale for 50% off this week. I want to add some more of the new EK Success border ones to my "collection." :) Can't wait to see what they have. Hope you haven't bought them all already (big wink). :)

Now for today's card. It is one based on the 2 Sketches 4 You (#36) blog sketch. I love working with their sketches!!!! Helps you get a card done without pulling out all your hair trying to come up with the perfect placement. They've done it for you! :) The patterned paper is some new I got this week by Webster's Pages. Beautiful papers in a 6x6 paper pad....perfect for card making! The rubber stamps used (clock and butterflies) are by Hampton Art. The sentiment is computer generated.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #52

My card today is for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #52. The movie this week is Mrs. Doubtfire plus you have to have a pocket or some element that opens up. My youngest daughter loves that movie and owns a copy. Needless to say we have watched it many times. I was looking thru my supplies trying to come up with an idea and saw a chipboard cup of cocoa. This sparked my idea of the quote from the movie about a "mean cup of cocoa." :) I stuck a key in the apron pocket (that apron is a Sizzix die by the way). The chipboard cup is by Imaginise. Patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye and the gold foilboard is by Grafix. Hope you like this card because I had such fun making it. :)

Better get a move on. I have to go to the grocery store. It's starting to look like Mother Hubbard's cupboard. :) Plus the sales end today, I'm off to buy Honeynut Cheerios! :)

Snowflakes and Bears Christmas Card

How is your Monday going so far? :) It is cloudy and looking like it wants to rain in Alabama. You know what that means, don' you? Yep, perfect weather for a card making day. :) Sharing a Christmas card I whipped up late last night. I am a "night owl" and like to work in the wee hours when the house is nice and quiet. :)

The papers on this one are by My Mind's Eye (The Merry Days Of Christmas Collection) and the chipboard stickers are by Imaginisce (Polar Express Collection). The snowflakes are a diecut by Sizzix. This one falls under the category "fast and easy"
which seems to be my favorite category now.

Better get a move on....lots to do today (and some of it I don't want to....like laundry, cleaning, etc.) :) I have this motto though that I have to do "chores" before I can "play." :)
