Meow-tain of Fun Card

I'm having too many "life" interruptions to get to stay very long in my craft room.  I managed to squeeze in a few minutes this afternoon to create one more card for the Cat Lover's Hop.  This image and sentiment are new ones I recently got from Art Impressions.  I had forgotten about them so imagine my delight when I was gathering up my cat stamps for the hop.  Again, the little things that make me happy....finding forgotten "treasures."  Big wink!  These climbing kitties are going to be linking up at:

Home And A Cat Card

I wanted to stay home today and make cards for the Cat Lover's Hop.  You know a stay at home in pajamas day without leaving the craft room sort of day.....while the maid and the cook fetched and toted for me.  BUT I had a "real life" interruption to that daydream and had to work (and in case you are wondering about that daydream.....in real life I am the "maid and cook" at my house.  Wink.)  Oh well, I just got up an hour earlier and made a couple of cards.  This is my second card for the Cat Lover's Hop today.  When you are thinking about what you are going to wear to work plus all the things needing doing before you leave for work, etc....you opt for quick and easy cards.  I used a ephemera piece from a Graphic 45 package in their Raining Cats and Dogs collection and then stamped a sentiment and did some dry embossing.  I started to take a black marker and fill in an "s" after "cat" on the sentiment because you know no one is happy with just one cat!  Gasp....big wink!
I'm linking this card up to these challenges:

Cat Lover's Hop (Cat Themed)

Southern Girls (Crazy For Critters)
Little Red Wagon (What's Red All Over?  Use red on you card.)
Crafty Animals Challenge (Anything Goes)
CARD RECIPE:

Ink Pad -- Clearsnap (Strawberry)
Cardstock -- Recollectios
Journaling and Ephemera -- Graphic 45 (Raining Cats and Dogs Collection)
Embossing Folder -- Sizzix

Wooden Heart Button -- Michael's Stores Inc.
Hemp Cord -- Hemptique (Black)
Sequins -- MultiCraft Imports, Inc.

All You Need Card

I am having my crafty time interrupted today by having to work.  I know, I know....life is just so unfair!  (Big wink.)  Ordinarily I wouldn't mind except it is ruining my plans to make cat cards for the Cat Lover's Hop.  BUT never fear, I solved that dilemma!!!  I got up an hour earlier and made a couple of cards.  Never say I am not devoted to the "cause."   I also have plans to make one or two tonight if I am not too tired.  We'll see how it goes.....maybe the craft room will win but the recliner will also be in the bidding war.  (Wink.)  The big image on this card is from a Journaling and Ephemera package by Graphic 45 in their Raining Cats and Dogs collection.  The expression on that vintage lady looks like she swallowed the canary....rather devious.  I hope she doesn't eat the cat too!  These two are going to be joining in on the fun at:

Cat Lover's Hop (Cat Themed)

Southern Girls (Crazy For Critters)

CCEE Stampers Challenge (Include A Cat On Your Creation)

2 Crafty Critter Crazies (Anything Goes With A Critter)

Christmas Mug Shot Card

I am joining in on the fun at the Cat Lover's Hop again.  I recently got this stamp from Technique Junkies.  It cracks me up and I smile each time I see it.  The cat looks just like my cat Tiger!  All in all my cats are good around the Christmas trees in our house.  The big tree in the den is their favorite place to sleep once I get it decorated.  I put a quilt around the base of the tree and they like to curl up on it.  They always look so pretty under the tree with the Christmas lights on at night.  Did you notice the snow on the trees?  I bought a snow marker at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and this is the first time I have used it.  It is prettier in person than in the photo.  You apply the marker rather thickly to the paper and let it dry.  Then you carefully use your heat gun and it puffs up and looks like snow.  It was fun to use (see I am not hard to make happy....wink.)  My mug shot kitty will be linking up at:
Cat Lover's Hop (Cat Theme)
Simon Say Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes)
Watercolor Wednesday Challenge (All About Christmas)

Out of Africa Card

I found out about a blog hop which is "new" to me but looks like a lot of fun. It is the Cat Lover's Hop.  This is the third year it has been held (wish I had known about them too.....wink.)  Once I found out about it this afternoon, I couldn't wait to get in my craft room.  The first thing I had to do was find some cat images in my rubber stamps.  I went through all my stamp sets and managed to find quite a few (some have not even been inked....yipee!)  There is also a movie inspired challenge going on at AAA Cards and I have had an idea for an Out of Africa card for a few days. I went to work aiming to combine the two challenges but in my creative "haze." I forgot one very important thing.  I forgot to make my card Clean and Simple for the AAA Cards!  Uh oh!  Oh well, I had fun making this card with my all time favorite movie in mind.  In fact after our dinner tonight, I am going to be watching Out of Africa.  Making this card made me want to watch it yet again!  I hope to make several more cards for the Cat Lover's Hop.   One of my cats kept me company this afternoon and approved of this card.

Hepburn Card

There is a FUN challenge going on at AAA Card Clean and Simple Challenges this week called "Inspired By A Film."  I am big movie buff so this challenge is right up by alley!  I have several ideas going on in my head for this one so hope I find time to create them.  I did manage to make this card this afternoon though and it is inspired by one of my favorite movies AND favorite actresses.  Can you guess the movie?  I was inspired by Breakfast At Tiffany's.  I wanted to keep it clean and simple with the image and sentiment being the main focus.  I used two circle punches to make pink cardstock circles.  Glued them down after I stamped the image and then put the sentiment on with foam tape to give it a little extra dimension.  Audrey  wants to play at:

Boo Windows Card Photo Tutorial

There is a contest at Marker Pop's blog currently of creating a video or of doing a photo tutorial of a fall project.  It has been a while since I did a photo instruction so thought I would give it a shot with a Halloween "windows" card.  First I cut a 5x7 inch black cardstock base for a three windows card front.  I thought it would be cute to use just the faces from the Pink and Main Spook-tacular clear stamp set.  I decided to heat emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder.

I used a VersaMark ink pad to stamp the sentiment in the lower right corner of the black cardstock base.

I sprinkled white embossing powder on the stamped sentiment and tapped off the excess.  I then heat set the sentiment.

I stamped the three images with a black ink pad using my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform (which I LOVE).  It is so nice being able to get a perfect image using it!  I ordered extra magnets for mine so I have six to hold my paper securely without movement.

I used Spectrum Noir and Copic alcohol markers to color only the faces and necks plus the hands on the Frankenstein image.

Now you are ready to create the "windows" on your card front.  I used a 1 3/4 inch circle punch by EK Success to make the three windows.

I fussy cut each stamped and colored head image.  You want them to appear to be peeking out the circle "window."  I chose to back the windows with orange, kiwi green and purple cardstocks to add more color.

I adhered a strip of spider web patterned washi tape to the front.  I had some pretty glittered purple letters by Jillibean Soup to spell "boo" over the washi tape.  I also glued some large orange and green googley eyes to the front of the card

Here is the finished card.  Now wasn't that easy?

These fun peeking Halloween characters will be playing at the following:

My Craft Space

I have done all of the activities at Joy Clair's World Cardmaking Day activities
except for one.  You were to make a "craftie" which is a photo of your craft room or of your work in progress, etc.  I took these photos this morning of my craft studio.  When I say every inch of space is taken up in there with shelves, cabinets or some kind of storage, I am not exaggerating.  It has been a work in progress for several years and I have replaced desks, added storage units and purged several times.  But I am very happy with it presently and I feel very lucky to have my own craft space.  My craft room also joins our attic and I even have shelves of supplies in there.  I have a hard time getting rid of things (like older Sizzix dies, etc.) and it is nice being able to put it in the attic where I can still use it from time to time.  So here is a little tour of my "happy place, I hope you enjoy seeing where the magic happens. (Big wink.)  The above photo is taken from the door going into my craft studio.  I have two desks set up with a long narrow table which forms a "u" shaped work space.  You'll notice my typewriter I got for Mother's day and my new Scan N Cut2 on the narrow table.  (I have a Sizzix eClips in another room but have been meaning to move it back....just need to figure out where!  Notice the tiger box on my desk?  That holds the thin metal dies I use the most.  I have them on magnetic cards.  It is nice having them at my fingertips and I can find what I need by just flipping through them.  Also I have two new paint storage spinning racks on top of the cabinet on your left.  I ordered them from Michael's on sale and love how they hold my two ounce bottles of acrylic paint.  Makes finding colors so much easier.
This photo is taken from inside the "u" and lets you see my second desk better.  On it I have my ink pads (and there is a shelf on the bottom of the desk which hold more ink pads).  Next to it is a white book case my oldest daughter stopped using years ago and of course made its way into my craft room.  The top of it holds my Spectrum Noir markers, Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers and a few Copic Sketch Markers.  (I have Copic Ciaos on my desk in front of the bookcase.

This photo is same desk but shows more of what is on the right side of it.  I have a two drawer filing cabinet which holds A LOT of 12x12 cardstock and patterned papers.  The plastic drawer unit with the colored drawers holds border punches.  This is a recent purchase from Michael's that I liked so much I bought another one to hold all my ribbons.  (It is under the zebra letters which spell my name.)  It works great for ribbons.  I sort it by color according to the drawer (red drawer holds red ribbons, yellow drawer holds yellow ribbons, etc.).  I did have my ribbon in photo boxes sorted by color but had outgrown those.  These drawers are a good size with room to add more ribbons.  Another recent addition is the white small drawer units made for washi tape storage (found at Michael's too).  I love them!  It is so nice having all my washi tape organzied!  On top of the white filing cabinet is recent crafty purchase (in two red baskets) and my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

This is the wall you see leaving my craft room.  The door going out is on the right (by the clock).  If you turn to the left, you will go into the attic where I have more craft supplies stored.  It doesn't look like there is a walk way but there is.  My camera angle is just hiding it.  The red baskets hold stamps by various companies.  I have embossing folders in the black units by the television (where I binge watch things on Netflix while I work sometimes....or listen to a book on Audible).  That unit also holds frequently used Sizzix dies (and I have a bookcase in the attic full of Sizzix dies as well).  I hope you enjoyed your tour of my crafty space.  I know I enjoy looking at everyone else's.  It is not super fancy but I am happy with it.  I know where everything is and it is a very "workable" space.

Prickly Card

I managed to do all the challenges at Joy Clair's for World Cardmaking Day.   This is the last one!  Yay!  This challenge was called the Pinspiration with Lori.  You were to create a card from the photo below:

I chose to go the succulents and flowers instead of the cake on my card.  The colors were a little different from what I normally choose but this made it more of a "challenge."  It's fun getting out of your comfort zone every once in a while.  I'll be linking up this card at:

Happy Friends Card

I am still working on World Cardmaking Day challenges and this is one for Joy Clair's Make A Card For A Friend.  I had a new stamp set by Jillibean Soup which has a cute flower and a nice friend sentiment which was wanting to get inky.  I used two border punches down the right side.  I have been trying to use some neglected tools lately and these border punches were so happy to get out of their drawer.  (Wink.) I'll be linking my happy friends cards to:

Halloween Witch Career Card

One of the World Cardmaking Day challenges at Joy Clair's blog was to "Stretch Your Stamps."  You are supposed to use a stamp in a way that is different than originally intended.  I chose a stamp by Crafty Individuals which is an image of four vintage ladies.  I thought it would be fun and "different" to use it on a Halloween card.  To do this I stamped them on orange cardstock and then made a couple of witch hats to put on a couple of the images.  These fun witches are linking up at:

Leaves Thankful Card

I got out something I have not used in a long time on this card.  Can you guess what it is?  I used my Stampin'Up chalks to add some color to the stamped leaves.  I had forgotten how easy it is to add some quick color to a stamped image.  I am still working on World Cardmaking Day challenges.  This card is for a challenge at Joy Clair's which was to CASE one of the design team's cards on their blog.  I chose to CASE a card posted on August 30th by LeeAnn McKinney (her "In Love" card).  These leaves will be falling by the following:
