Groove It Card

One good thing about this terrible heat wave is spending more time in my craft room.  The last few weeks I have not been card making as much as I was staying out and about by the pool.  Then when I finally did come inside I had lost my "crafty mojo."  But this week the heat has been extreme and not even the pool feels cool so the conditioning in my craft room made my muse return....wink.  I've enjoyed getting back into the swing of things making cards for challenges (and mail to friends to make their mailboxes smile).  This fun card uses the AALL & Create stamp set (# 778 Fifties Dee).  I stenciled the music background using the Mini Music Sheet by The Crafter's Workshop (TCW579s).  The word bubble die cut was done with my Silhouette Cameo (#39210 Hero Arts Conversation Bubbles).  I'll be linking this groovy chick up at:

Hello Gorgeous Card

This heat wave has driven me to my craft room where it is nice and cool.  The Penny Black Saturday Challenge has an optional one layer challenge and I wanted to join in on the fun.  I have to confess though when I see one layer card, I struggle.  I keep wanting to add layers....wink.  Since I am out watering my flowers at daybreak each day, I wanted to use one of my favorite Penny Black cling stamps.  I colored the image with yellow and green alcohol markers.  I'm linking this gardening lady up at:

If Friends Were Flowers Card

Another terribly hot day so spending time in my craft room seemed like a good idea this morning.  When my friend Stephanie visited a couple of weeks ago, we spent a morning doing backgrounds with Ken Oliver Color Burst plus stencils.  I used one of those today for the green vine panel on this card.  Stephanie also brought me a goodie bag filled with several new stamp sets plus matching dies.  I used one of those for the floral image which is Gina K Designs (Pretty Posy).  The sentiment is from Honey Bee Stamps (My Favorite Flower).  The vine stencil is one from my stash by Dylusions (Ranger).  The stitched die used for the stamped image is by The Stamps of Life (Stitched Rectangles).  I'll be joining the following fun challenges with this card:

Thanks for dropping in.  Hope you are staying cool in this awful heat wave.  I'll be getting up at daylight to get out and water my flowers and have pool time before it gets too hot.

Friends Are Flowers Card

For the past couple of nights, I have been coloring stamped images while I watch television.  I had forgotten how relaxing it is to simply color for the fun of it.  I had stamped a lot of images days ago for this purpose.  No rhyme or reason as to what I selected but I did stamp several pretty floral images (which are always a favorite of mine to color).  The image above is one I colored last night and is one of my favorite stamp sets by Altenew (Seasonal Blooms).  The friends die cut is one from my stash by Momento.  The stamped sentiment is by Honey Bee Stamps (My Favorite Flowers) with matching die cut set.  The embossing folder is one from Spellbinders when I belonged to the embossing folder monthly club.  I think it is one I reach for the most since it has a beautiful floral background.  I'm going to link these bright flowers up at:

Thanks for dropping by on this very hot, hot, hot day in Alabama.  I was happy to be able to craft in my cool craft room this morning.  Remember to stay crafty and COOL!

Sunflower Sympathy Card

Another hot day and after I watered outdoor flowers this morning, I headed to my craft room where I knew it would be COOL!  Thanks heavens for air conditioning!  I used stamps from Stampendous for this sympathy card.  These particular images scan and cut great with the Scan 'N Cut which saved me loads of time.  This was a very enjoyable card to make and will go in my card stash for when it is needed.  I'm going to link it up at these challenges:

Thanks for visiting me today.  Hope you are staying out of the heat and spending lots of cool crafty time.

Sunny Day Floral Card

Sometimes I could literally HUG my Scan 'N Cut and today's card was one of those days.  It did a perfect job cutting out the above Stampendous floral, leaf and butterfly images.  Cutting all these out saved me lots of time plus the cuts look better than if I had fussy cut them out myself.  This happy floral card will be joining the following challenges:

Thanks for dropping in on this hot but beautiful August day.  Remember to stay cool (just a good excuse to stay in your craft room and make pretty things....wink.)

Floral and Bow Sympathy Card

After a wonderful long weekend (which I will share more about at the end of this post), I spent crafty time in my craft room (which is another way to say I was staying cool in the air conditioning).  My daughter had asked me to create a sympathy card for one of her co-workers.  The floral image is one I colored this weekend when my friend Stephanie and I were coloring with alcohol markers.  I created it with some of my favorite challenge blogs in mind too.

Now to tell you about my fun long weekend....can you guess who flew to Alabama from Iowa to visit?
If you guessed Stephanie which has the fantastic blog Ingenious Inkling plus Jingle Belles, then you guessed correct!  Above you see what we were up to Friday in my kitchen creating with watercolor powders.
Above you can see some of the backgrounds we did for future cards using Ken Oliver Color Burst plus other watercolor powders Stephanie brought.  We had quite the spread and I'm proud to say we didn't even make a mess (on us or the counter).  We wore tight fitting gloves (which we were laughing about being serial killer gloves...and scared my cats) to keep our hands clean.  I live in a very small town but I hope I still showed my crafty friend a good time.  We spent lots of time in the pool, visited a local Sonic (which Stephanie does not have in her area) for ice cream and cool delicious drinks.  I took Stephanie to an antique mall where both of us discovered "treasures."  (Wink.)  Lots of game playing at night, watching funny tv shows and laughter, laughter, laughter.  Oh and did I mention eating my "Southern cooking" which included a homemade Lemon Icebox Pie.  But alas all good things come to an end and Sunday we had to drive to the airport for Stephanie to return home (sniff, sniff).  Below we are fixing to leave for the airport and I am trying not to be sad that our lovely time is nearing an end.
It really is true crafty friends are the best friends.  I'll always look back on this weekend with the fondest and happiest of memories.  Until next time...stay crafty.
