Market Street Block Party Card

Before I get up and start tackling all the Christmas decorations and general "mess," I wanted to share a card. This is one I did for the Market Street Block Party and for Casual Friday #33 (using kraft and twine). The stamps are from the newest Market Street release. Of course I loved this set because of the butterflies (you know how I "collect" them). :) I torn some cardboard off a box plus used it to cut a tag (die by Sizzix). The basic black and white twine is from The Twinery.
This is the first year ever I have not had my Christmas decorations put away before New Year's. I think I like it better too! It gives a person some time to rest up after all the Christmas "madness." I have my two daughters to help go up and down the stairs so hopefully we will have it all done in a couple of hours. Then the house will need a good cleaning and things will be back to normal....at least until next Christmas. :)

New Stamps, New Year! :)

What better way to start off a brand new year than with brand new stamps, right? The {Stamps} of Life has a new release today called list2write. I'm sharing three cards I created with it (and for even more ideas, visit the SOL gallery). :)

I looked and my last blog post was on December 10th. Sometime after that I got "lost" in the Christmas "madness" (plus got sick on top of it). I hope you had a wonderful holiday. (My bunch surprised me with a Kindle Fire so I was a "happy camper." No, it won't replace my Kindle keypad which is the BEST for reading but it will be great in warmer weather. I love to read outside at night on my front porch....ceiling fans going, birds chirping, lost in a good book....awwwwww heaven!) :) Hope you liked my cards today. Are you as busy as I am now? :) December is here and I am rushing around like MAD trying to get everything done. (I seriously need at least 50 elves to help!) :) I haven't even seen my craft room in days which is my way of having fun and relaxing. What I have seen is too much cleaning, decorating, fighting the crowds shopping for presents, and then wrapping said presents! I haven't started the baking yet either.....I'm getting tired just typing about it. :) Since I'm getting a little "grinch" like, I am planning an afternoon in my studio today. The question is will I be able to create or will my mind keep making "still to do" lists! :) BUT I do have a card to share that was done a few weeks ago for Sizzix and the Scrap Mart blog hop. It is also my wish to you during this crazy but fun(?) season. :)

I used a Sizzix embossing folder plus Sizzix Tags Framelits. Those cute penguins and sentiments are by The {Stamps} of Life. If you think the "poles" of the banners look like toothpicks, then you are correct. Who would have thought a box of toothpicks would end up as a "staple" in my craft room? (Honey, where's the toothpicks? Oh, they're in my craft room. Hubby mumbling "should have known!" Wink!) :) So to all my "crafty" friends I wish "Peace, Joy and Love."

I'm sharing a card today I did using Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante collection. The embossing folder is by Sizzix and the stamp is by Unity Stamp Company. The jewels are by KaiserCraft. This card is being done for La Vikingas scrap's blog where she has a contest going on. She wanted cards created using any Graphic 45 papers. The prize is gift certificates from Stop and Scrap....always a "good" thing. :)

Don't you just love when the mailman delivers a "scrappy" box (or in my case a "card making" box)?? :) The papers and brad are by Pink Paislee (Vintage Vogue Collection which was on clearance at Stop and Scrap). The pretty sheer trim is by Crate Paper (which was also on clearance at Stop and Scrap). The vintage image is by Lunagirl and I put photo corners on it by Canson. I used stamps by Hero Arts. The diecut letters were done with my Sizzix eClips. A flower by Prima Marketing and some baker's twine from The Twinery add the perfect finishing touches. :)

Now let's get started on my fun and basically FREE project. I am always looking for a way to recycle or alter something that I have (plus I have a daughter in college so we are really "pinching pennies" at my house.) :) I have been buying crossiants at the Wal-Mart bakery for several weeks. We like to slice them in half and use for sandwiches. Anyway they are sold in nice clear plastic containers that you can turn into Christmas cookie gift containers. :) First, wash your container and try to peel off as much of the label as possible (all of it won't come off but don't worry, we will cover it up....see the second photo) :)

I used my Sizzix eClips to cut a scalloped white square. This square is going to be our "stamping base." (see the next two photos) I used Hampton Art's Snowman Set for this project. I heat embossed the snowman with black embossing powder.

Next stamp the sentiment twice using a Clearsnap's ColorBox by Stephanie Barnard in Strawberry and in Spearmint. You are going to cut the sentiments into pieces and mat.

Once you heat emboss your snowman, do some coloring with markers. :)

I also used Hampton Art's Very Merry Borders on my "free" cookie gift container. You are going to stamp the border four times. Trim it closely to adhere to the bottom SIDEs of the container.

Next get out your pretty ribbon. I used a bright red gingham to wrap around the upper sides plus made a bow for the top of the container.

The last two photos show my "basically free" cookie container loaded with yummy M&M
cookies. How easy was that and don't forget....nearly free. Wink. :) I've got several of these containers washed and saved. I'll spend an afternoon stamping and getting them ready for Christmas. They'll make pretty "cookie containers" to give to neighbors and friends that you want to do a "little" something for. So there you have my "handmade holiday" gift project. November Stamps of Life Release

Today is a BIG day for two reasons. First, I have the new November release from
The {Stamps} of Life. Second, it is my birthday! (So imagine me typing and singing "happy birthday" to myself.) Wink! :) The new stamp set is called
froggy2love. What fun I had "playing" with this one! So check out the samples I made while I'm off to look in the mirror to see if I look another year older! :) What the heck, I'll still get presents anyway. (By the way, I just ordered myself a present a few minutes ago. Amazon has Bic Markers (36 colors) for $10.70 today.) I was looking at them a few days ago and they were nearly $15. So for once, it paid to wait. Wink. :) They are an alcohol marker and fun to color and/or draw with. You have my permission to get some even if it is not YOUR birthday cause you know what I say. "Life is short....you need LOTs of markers!" (hee-hee)

Together We Can Do It Card

I'm playing with the CPS Card Sketch this week. It is sketch #242. I also did this card for one of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at Split Coast Stampers. I thought it would fit the "Tickled Pink" challenge. :) I love the vintage photo by Crafty Secrets and I thought the stamped sentiment was the perfect accent to go with it (sentiment stamp by Hero Arts). The embossing folder is by Sizzix. The flower and brad are Prima Marketing. I used a pale, pale shade of pink cardstock which doesn't look pink in my photo. (That's two days in a row that my camera had "hated" me.) Wink. :) Posting this in a hurry as my youngest daughter and I are off to a Goo Goo Dolls concert tonight! (After my last concert of seeing Keith Urban back in August, I purchased ear plugs at Dollar Tree. My ears were ringing for days after that one.) Owlright Card

The card I'm posting today is prettier in person (for some reason it did not photograph well). It is done in close shades of pink so maybe that is why it didn't like the camera. :) I used the sketch over at Casual Fridays for my inspiration. I also did it for one of the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges (HYCCT1129)
over at Split Coast Stampers. The stamps are by Market Street Stamps. All the cardstocks are by Diecuts With A View. The flowers are by Prima Marketing and the brads are by American Crafts. That's it for me today. My hubby is grilling steaks for our dinner plus there's a good football game to watch. I'm also determined to finish my book tonight (Night Circus). :) It's a good book but I can't seem to find the time to read more than a chapter or two at a time. Maybe since hubby is playing chef tonight, I'll get to read (a good theory anyway...wink). :)

There is a monthly challenge at Inspiration Emporium that you can find on their blog.
This month's challenge is to use black, purple and orange on a creation. Since October is the perfect month for those colors, I had to play (wink). :) The rubber stamps are by Market Street Stamps. The embossing folder is a new one by Sizzix. The flower is by Prima Marketing and the brad is one by My Mind's Eye. Hope you are getting up to a pretty Friday. It is dark and raining in my neck of the woods. Which is perfect weather for staying home and crafting but as luck would have it, I have to be out and about today. It is my mom's birthday and I doubt she would be thrilled if I stayed home and didn't deliver her birthday presents. :) Here's hoping you stay "dry" today as I will surely be getting rained on. :)

Owl "For You" Card

Daring Cardmakers has a new bird challenge. They have a nice prize donated by The Ribbon Reel too. :) Butterflies and birds are two of my favorite themes so I had to "play." :) I used the sketch at Card Patterns for my inspiration. My cute little "purple" owl is by Hampton Art. The patterned papers are by Bo Bunny (along with the brad). The circle and scalloped circle were done with Sizzix Framelits (love, love those!). :) The jewels are by KaiserCraft and the flower is by Prima Marketing. To create the "stem" on the flower, I rolled the paper and then "mushed" it. :) I used my "new" Fine Colour markers to color the stamped image. Do you like to read before going to sleep? I love it (if I can stay awake). :) I'm heading to bed now to read "Night Circus." I'm half way through and can't wait to see what happens. Night Circus received a lot of publicity and promotion before it was released. I'm not sure it is everyone's taste but I'm enjoying it. :) Hoping the weather will be another beautiful autumn day tomorrow so I can head outside with my good book. Enjoy your weekend!

Howdy Cowgirl Card

With such a beautiful fall day, how can you resist a challenge to use the "colours of autumn?" :) This is the current challenge at Stampin'For The Weekend. I decided to use the colors of autumn on a stamp set I recently got by Hero Arts.
Really Reasonable Ribbon also has a "fun for fall" challenge going on. (I used natural jute.) The patterned paper, jewel, and leaf stick pins are by Little Yellow Bicycle. I used Copic markers plus Fine Colour markers. (The Fine Colour markers came last week directly from China. I received a shipment of 192 colors in them! They were in China Sunday and I had them by Wednesday! I was sooooo excited I kept telling my husband that I was having "Christmas" in October!) :) We had a great Saturday! I even got around to washing off my front porch. Then we enjoyed watching the Alabama/Ole Miss football game (Roll Tide...wink!). :) I think fall is my favorite time of year, what's yours? :)

Get Well Soon Card

Have you seen the new Hero Arts stamps that have matching Sizzix dies to cut out the stamped images? They are FUN. Today's card features one of these sets. You can see it here. I used one of my favorite color combinations of pink and green which makes this card fit the challenge at Paper Sundaes (#90 Favorite Colour Combination). I used my Sizzix eClips to cut the large pink frame. This card also fits the new ShinHan Touch Twin Challenge of "Florals."

My youngest daughter came home from a school field trip exhausted. They left yesterday so they could attend the State Fair today. She had a great time but headed straight to bed when she got home. I smiled at that cause I can only imagine how late they stayed up last night. :) Glad she had fun but glad they are back safe and sound too.....you know how "moms" are. Wink. :) Heading to bed to read "Night Circus" which I'm enjoying....it's different! :)

Touch Twin Color Challeng/Thank You Card

Today is my last card for the ShinHan Touch Twin Color Challenge. (I got four cards out of the cardstock colors...yea!) If I did that more often, it might eliminate all those boxes of "scraps" that seem to be piling up (and I can't throw away!) :)
The large stamp is by Hero Arts and the embossing folder is by Sizzix. The pretty braid is from a multi-package found at Hobby Lobby (their Paper Studio brand). Do you have fun plans for this Saturday? My youngest and I are going to a giant flea market and then shopping for jeans (you know growing kids never have clothes). :) The best part of the trip though will be me getting to go in Hobby Lobby! Yep, I'm armed with 40% off coupons, so watch out! Wink, wink. :)

Feel Better Card

Sharing another card I did for the ShinHan Touch Twin Color Challenge. After I got out the correct colors of cardstock for my first card, I decided to keep going. I tried to use every bit of the cardstock and ended up making four cards. I'll post the last one tomorrow. I rarely do this (using the same colors several times in a row) but I liked these four colors together (not sure I had ever used them before).
The stamps are by Hero Arts and the embossing folder is by Sizzix. I used some Diamond Glaze on the butterfly's wings (hope you can see it on my photo).
Well, it's TGIF day. I've been busy with "life" things and have not gotten to "hide out" in my craft room much this week. Hoping that changes today. :) Here's hoping you find time to do something you want today too. :)

This is a card I did for the ShinHan Touch Twin Color Challenge. This is a new challenge site and it's all about using the above four colors this time around. I used stamps by Hero Arts while the embossing folder is by Sizzix. I colored the tree with the four required colors for this challenge (the ink is Memento/Rich Cocoa). Papertake Weekly has a sketch challenge at the end of the month. My card for this one uses a stamp by Hero Arts (colored with Copic markers). The cardstock is by Diecuts With A View. The pom-pom trim is by My Mind's Eye. The small flower brads are by Making Memories. I rubbed the tops of them with a blue Copic marker to make them "match" better. :) How is your Wednesday shaping up? I need to go to the grocery store (which is not one of my favorite things to do). :) I'm sitting here trying to decide if I can wait "one more day." It's kinda "iffy" on the milk though so I might as well put on my big girl "grocery shopping" panties. :) Hope your day is filled with better activities. Wink. :)

Kickin' Birthday Card

It's time for another Touch Twin Marker Challenge which is a color one. I used fun stamps by Hero Arts. I had to color my image with Copics as I didn't have the right Touch Twin colors (still sobbing that I didn't win the box of 12 in the first challenge....wink, wink). But you know what Scarlet O'Hara always says...."tomorrow is another day" (or in this case, another challenge). The embossing folder is by Sizzix. The felt ric rac is by My Mind's Eye.

Hope your Monday was a good one. It was a good mail day here as the book I won came in. No, I didn't win the Touch Twin markers BUT I did win a book. I won a copy of the new Jane Fonda biography. I can't wait to read it (course winning markers would be good too....crossing my fingers, toes and eyes for the next one!!!!!). :)

Mostly Monochromatic 3+1

Casual Friday has a new challenge called "Mostly Monochromatic 3+1" that I couldn't resist playing. You have to use at least three shades of a monochromatic color plus brown. I don't know why but I always have trouble anytime I "supposed" to go monochromatic. :) I think it's because there are soooo many colors and I start to stress about which one to pick. I chose three shades of aqua/teal by Bazzill cardstock as my monochromatic colors (the brown is also by Bazzill). The stamps are one of the NEW Hero Arts/Sizzix sets. You get stamps plus dies to cut the stamped shapes. Love, love them! :) Isn't it great when two fantastic companies partner up? :) The sentiment is also by Hero Arts but from one of their clear stamp sets. I kept playing with this card and finally decided it "needed" some dry embossing for more dimension. The embossing folder is by Sizzix and the pretty swirled brad is by Prima Marketing. So do you have fun plans for this pretty fall Saturday? My youngest daughter has a band competition and my husband is working on our farm. This means I'll get to do some things I enjoy (yep, making cards) but it's such a beautiful day I'm heading outside! It will be a great afternoon to sit on the front porch and read. (Reading "Unbroken" by Lauren Hillenbrand on my Kindle. I highly recommend it too by the way.) :) Enjoy your weekend and RELAX.....the big 6-ton satellite fell in the Pacific ocean last night. Just A Note Card/Touch Twin Markers Challenge

I tell ya I'm wanting to win those markers at the Touch Twin Markers Challenge blog. :) (Course I'm not the only one "drooling" over them). :) Anyway I did another card for their first challenge of "Playing With Our Peeps." Since I don't have but a few colors of the ShinHan Touch Twin markers, I used Copic markers on this card. (You can use another brand until the first of the year at this challenge site.) The little girl image is from one of the new Hampton Art/Graphic 45 cling stamps. The "just a note" is from The {Stamps} of Life. Shinhan Twin Markers Challenge

I am soooo excited about a new product that I've found. Have you heard about the new Shinhan Touch Twin markers? I love coloring and these markers look so "cool." :) I've had the pleasure of talking to the nice "folks" at Shinhan and I cannot wait to get my hands on these markers. Some have been shipped to me and I can't wait to "play" with them!!!! Also Shinhan has a new challenge site which is having their "first" challenge with a fabulous prize. The first Touch Twin Challenge is called
"Playing With Our Peeps" which is to have people on your project. You may use other markers until the first of the year in case you don't have any Shinhan markers YET. :) Since mine are on their way, I used Copic Ciao markers. This card also fits the Cards magazine blog challenge of "cards with toothpick flags." (Loved this fun challenge and I made my flags. When I decided to do this one, I went in my kitchen to get toothpicks. Naturally I was out so had to make a fast trip to the grocery store before they closed....cause you know I'm a "midnight owl" when it comes to card making.) The stamps are by Penny Black (image), Hero Arts (sentiment) and My Mind's Eye (dotted banner flag). The embossing folder is by Sizzix while the cardstock and patterned cardstock is by Diecuts With A View.

September Stamps Of Life Release

Today I want to share a new stamp set by The {Stamps} Of Life called owls2love. I had the most fun with this cute, cute set. I'm sharing four cards I created with it. I used Sizzix dies and embossing folders plus papers by Diecuts With A View also. I have been absent from my blog for the last few weeks. Hopefully today is the start of regular posts again. :) I got my mom moved and into her new home. She is doing well which has been a big relief for me and my family. I got my oldest daughter moved back to her apartment and the start of her senior year at college (still can't believe that). My youngest is back in school and starting her sophomore year in high school (also hard to believe). :) A lot going on plus after getting my mom moved, I had to take a couple of weeks learning to "breathe" again. :) The last twenty months have been extremely busy and hard for us. So today is a new day with new beginnings and lots of blog posts coming. :) Ohh, and would you believe we got a "new" kitty this week. Her name is Dixie and she is 14 weeks old. She's a beautiful yellow tabby cat. Someone had let her out at our farm several weeks ago. My youngest daughter has begged and begged to bring her inside. Being the "good" mom that I am, I finally said OK (even though we already have two grown male cats in the house.) We took her to the vet's to be declawed and get her shots, etc. She's been here two days and I'm amazed how smart this little "girl" is. :) No accidents and already liter box trained....yea! :) My "boys" are still looking her at from "afar" but I think they'll all be "best friends" soon. :) I'm not sure my vacuum cleaner will ever be off though as I'm somewhat of a compulsive clean freak (which means I can't stand to see any "hair" anywhere). One of my male cats loves to get vacuumed....yes, he lets me vaccum his hair with the brush attachment. :) I'll take pictures and post soon. Woo Whoo Card

The current Cards blog challenge magazine is to use baker's twine on your creation. I ask you, "what did we do before Baker's Twine?" :) Seriously I reach for it on nearly all my cards now. :) Love the stuff! This card features stamps by Hampton Art. The patterned paper and brads are by My Mind's Eye. I used the Sizzix eClips to cut out the three tags in like two seconds. :) I used baker's twine by The Twinery to simply connect the tags. (Make sure you tie a knot on each end.)
This is my first post in a while as I have of a lot of "life changing" things going on. My mother suffered a stroke nearly two years ago and has been living with us since. I have been her caregiver all that time. This has been one of the most challenging things I have ever had to do. The last few months her condition has been getting worse making it even more difficult. This week after much thought and with great heartache, I have decided I cannot do it any longer. So we have found her a very nice assisted living facility which is 20 miles from our home. This is the best thing for her plus also for my family and me but it is still sooooo hard to "let go." Keep us in your thoughts next week as we get her moved and settled in. Enjoy your Wednesday and try to stay cool. I have to get out in this heat today to take mother to doctor's appointments. As hot as it is, that's not going to be any fun.

Sweet As Cherries Card

Paperplay has a "fruity" challenge going on with a great prize from Simon Says Stamp.
That's just too much incentive to pass up. :) It was also the perfect excuse to use my new stamps from Unity Stamp Company. I cut the scalloped base with the Sizzix eClips. I used Copic markers to color the bowl of cherries image. The dotted paper is by Diecuts With A View. I liked the finished results of this one. :) Quick post but is a Friday and I am behind in every area of my life (housework, laundry, craft deadlines, etc.). So I'm off to play "catch-up" (like that is really going to happen!). :)

"For The Birds" Card

The City Crafter Challenge this week is called "Birds Of A Feather." When you are a bird watcher and "bird" collector of pretty stamps, papers, etc., this challenge is right up your alley. :) Party Time Tuesdays challenge is square cards which are always fun. I started out using my Sizzix eClips to make the 6 inch scalloped square base. (What did I do before the eClips came along?) :) The patterned bird and egg paper is by 7 Gypsies. I used stamps by Unity Stamp Company. (The flower is by Prima Marketing and the brads are by Basic Grey). Hope you like my "bird" card. Time to get up and get my day started. No big plans other than laundry (a vicious cycle) and light housework. I'm hoping to spend the afternoon in my craft room with the lovely cool air conditioning creating cards. Course staying outside without the lovely air conditioning but definitely in the shade with a good book sounds inviting too. Decisions, decisions! :) Have a fun Wednesday!

Accordian Flower Challenge

The Create: blog has an accordian flower challenge currently going on. I have a Sizzix die that makes these flowers a snap. It does the cutting plus creates the "score" line so it is only a matter of folding and adhering. Easy peasy! ;) There's no way you can pass up a challenge when you have the "perfect" tool! Wink! :) The stamp is by Unity Stamp Company. The embossing folder is by Sizzix. The clear sentiment sticker is by Diecuts With A View while the glitter glazed brads are by The Paper Studio. Better get off the computer and get the table ready. My oldest daughter is stopping by Taco Bell and bringing dinner home. There's nothing like "gourment" food, huh? Wink! I'm not complaining! It got me out of the kitchen for the night! :) Hooray!

Single Layer Card

The Cupcake Craft Challenge this week is for a "single layer card." I sorta scratched my head on this one and I hope my card "passes." :) The rubber stamps are by Unity Stamp Company. I used some blue rhinestones by KaiserCraft and an arrow diecut by Sizzix.
Has your day seemed like a different one? All day it has seemed like Monday but it is Tuesday! That's what the 4th of July did I guess. I had such fun yesterday with all the 4th activities that it has been hard getting back in the swing of things (like loads and loads of laundry....ugh!) My oldest daughter called a few minutes ago and volunteered to bring dinner home tonight though so no cooking! Anytime I can get out of the kitchen (especially in the summer) is a GOOD thing! Cowboy "Moments" Card

I hope you had an amazing 4th of July like we did. Lots of fun and sun and we won't even mention the "calories." My oldest daughter did some wonderful strawberries dipped in white chocolate and then blue sugar. I didn't know that red, white and blue strawberries could be sooooo good. Wink. :) I did today's card early this morning before heading outside. I based it on sketch #121 at Card Patterns. CASual Friday's challenge was to use kraft cardstock with a male theme. Last, The Pink Elephant had a color challenge to use red, white and blue (should have photographed those strawberries but sorry I was too busy EATING them). I used photograph and sentiment rubber stamps by Oxford Impressions. The fleur-de-lis and scalloped borders were done with my Sizzix eClips. The polka dot ribbon came from Michael's. Happy 4th everyone!

Cards "Lots of Jewels" Challenge

I love to add rhinestones to my cards so the Cards "Lots of Jewels" challenge was right up my alley. :) I chose some patterned paper by Bo Bunny. The rubber stamps are by The {Stamps} Of Life. I used the Sizzix eClips to make some wave diecut borders at the bottom of my card. The alphabet stickers are by Bo Bunny too. The green rhinestones are by KaiserCraft. I tried to make the rhinestones looks like water spraying. Not sure I succeeded though....in any case, the card has A LOT of rhinestones. :) Plus I had fun making it so I guess that is the important part. :)
It has been a busy summer day and my eyes are getting heavy so I'll just close with a "good night and sweet dreams." :)

Three Eiffel's Merci Card

Clearsnap has a new challenge that is called "Out of the Colorbox." This week the colors to use are: Dark Cherry, Cookie Dough and Atlantic Blue. Since I had a new box of Clearsnap Archival Dye ink pads, I wanted to try this challenge. I chose the three colors of ink that the challenge calls for and stamped my image on glossy white cardstock. The rubber stamps are by Hampton Art. I topped the stamped Eiffel Tower images with some dew drops that I won off Ebay. Fast and easy card but I like the way it turned out. This card will also fit two other challenges. Crafty Creations has a "thank you" challenge going on. Simon Says Stamp has a "show a word" challenge so I used "merci." Hope your Thursday has been a good one. Lots of chores today plus a big stack of ironing....but I did manage to create two cards so the day wasn't a total loss. Wink. :)

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger Challenge

The Tuesday Trigger challenge this week is based on a card in the new issue of Stamp It! It's by Tina Fussel and I am in "card love" with it. :) I used rubber stamps by Unity Stamp Company and inks by Clearsnap. The patterned papers and doily are by Little Yellow Bicycle. I added some "sparkle" with yellow rhinestones and a yellow glitter pen by Copic. Shabby Tea Room has a "my favorite things" challenge too. This card uses rubber stamps which are my all time "favorite thing" plus rhinestones (a close second). Crafty Creations wanted to see some "sparkle" this week. I used rhinestones and a glitter pen.
Now all I need is a big glass of homemade lemonade before heading out to the front porch to do one of my favorite summer activities. Yep, reading a good book outside is a "winner" at our house (sorry, I sound like Charlie Sheen there). :) Thanks for dropping by on a rainy Tuesday. :)

Fourth of July "Celebrate" Card

Can you believe that June is almost over? This summer is going by way too fast! I did a Fourth of July card for some challenges today. I used the sketch at City Crafter's Challenge. The Tuesday Throwdown challenge was to use red, white and blue while Party Time Tuesdays was to make a 4th of July creation. The patterned papers are by We R Memory Keepers. The rubber stamp "celebrate" is by The {Stamps} Of Life. The ribbons and glitter brads are by Little Yellow Bicycle. This has been a cloudy and rainy day...some much needed rain too I might add. It also means I don't have to water flowers this afternoon (yipee!). :) I did get outside this morning before the rains and cut some zinnias and sunflowers for a fresh flower arrangement. I put them in a pretty vase which is sitting on our breakfast room table. I brought some "summer" inside. :) Hope your Tuesday has been a pleasant one like mine.;)

Smiling Suit Card

Playdate Cafe's current challenge colors are slate blue, barn red and grey. I had a Diecuts With A View Shimmer Stack that had the perfect colors for this so I decided to play along. I used the sketch at Card Patterns for the base of my design. It also fits the challenge at CASual Fridays of "Getting Edgy." The rubber stamps are by Unity Stamp Company.
I promised to tell you about my "surprise trip" weekend. :) My oldest daughter certainly outdid herself with this one. She had booked reservations at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Jackson, Mississippi (which is about 3 1/2 hours drive away) for a "girl's" weekend. We stayed at the Fairview Inn. We had a beautiful room, a wonderful dinner and breakfast. For an added surprise, she had booked massages at the spa (at the inn) for both of us. After a delicious dinner, we went back to the room and had a girl's pampering night complete with facials, manicures, etc. She had also brought "Fried Green Tomatoes" for us to watch (our room had a 54 inch TV)! Before we came home on Sunday, we did some shopping and went to a movie (saw "Super 8"). What a special and fun weekend. This was my first time at a bed and breakfast and I loved it! :) I didn't want to come home....but afraid that would have upset my hubby and youngest daughter. Wink, wink. :)

Red, White and Blue Birthday Card

Since it was a rainy afternoon, I got to stay in and "play"....I mean stamp. :) This card fits several current challenges. Moxie Fab has a beautiful borders challenge. I used the sketch at Clean and Simple for my base. Stamp Something has a "celebrate" using red, white and blue while Stampin'For The Weekend has a favorite things challenge. My favorite things on this card are my diecuts and stamps. I used my Sizzix eClips to do the borders and stars plus a Sizzix embossing folder. The stamps are by The {Stamps} Of Life which is one of my favorite stamp companies. I love how all of Stephanie's stamps work with each other. She has versatile and fun images.
Do you have fun weekend plans? I do but don't know what they are. What? You say that makes no sense? :) My oldest daughter has informed me to be packed in the morning but won't tell me where our destination is! She's told me what I'll need to pack but nothing else! Love You Challenge Card

CASual Friday has a challenge called "Getting Edgy" this week. I thought this would be the perfect time to use my new Sizzix eClips Edges design cartridge. Wow, I love this one! It is full of beautiful borders (which you can also turn into decorative accents). I used an embossing folder also by Sizzix. The metal tab is by Making Memories. I seem to be stuck in a "black and white" color scheme lately but it is always so striking with an ornate border. :)
I'm inside enjoying a heavy rain which means I won't have to water flowers this afternoon. I got carried away this spring with all my planting. It is taking 45 minutes in 100+ heat (not to mention the humidy)to keep my flowers "happy." :) This is the third afternoon this week I have gotten "time off." Nothing better than being inside when it is raining and making cards or reading a good book. I have been reading some interesting books this summer. I recently finished "Before I Go To Sleep" which I couldn't finish fast enough....just to see how it was going to end.
I started "Still Missing" yesterday and can't wait to read more of it. I'm also reading "The Snowman" on my Libre which is lighted. I read it outside at night and read my Kindle "before dark." I resisted ereaders for a long time and now I've ended up with two....love both of them! They have made reading fun again. Enjoy your weekend! :)

Chocolate and Friendship Card

I just found out today The Stampsmith has a challenge going on. Since I have been a long time "drooler"...I mean fan of their stamps, I wanted to play along. Their current challenge is "Friends and Friendship" and you have to use at least one Stampsmith stamp. This card also fits three other current challenges:
Charisma Cardz (White plus one other color...I chose black as my other color.)
Cute Card Thursday (Theirs is a sketch challenge...so I used it to get my mojo going.)
Paper Play (Stars and Stripes....used striped paper and star eyelets)
I stamped the Stampsmith image with black ink on glossy white cardstock. The embossing folder is by Sizzix and I used glossy white cardstock for this also. The striped paper is by 7 Gypsies (Paddington collection). Some white star eyelets and striped ribbon finish it off. Do you ever use eyelets anymore? I have a huge box of them in all different colors and shapes. After using these white star eyelets, I promised myself I would start using them more. :) Hope your Thursday has been a good one. My husband took me out to lunch to a Mexican resturant so I didn't have to fix lunch. Now if I could figure how to get out of cooking dinner. Wink! :) I don't want to be in the kitchen in the summer (or spring, fall and winter either for that matter)....but alas my family likes to eat and even demand "hot" home cooked meals. Imagine! :)

This one was FUN! :) How is your Friday going? This morning we had some much needed rain. Lovely to sit inside and create while it was cloudy and raining outside! :) My husband is on his way home with our youngest daughter who has been at "science camp" for the last two weeks. Thanks A Bunch Card

Have a quick post to share a card I did for two different challenge blogs. I need to be up and busy (have a dreaded job coming on.....more about that after I share my card details). :) Try It On Tuesday (Tuesday Taggers) has a tag and butterfly challenge and you know me, I can't ever resist a butterfly challenge. :) I put my "tag" on a card (hope that was all right with the rules of the challenge.) Shabby Tea Room also has a pink, green, neutral and flowers challenge that I tried to fit this in (think I maybe lacking the neutral color though). It all ended up being pink and green but at least it has flowers. Wink. :) The papers are by Diecuts With A View. The little butterfly stamp is by Hampton Art. The large tag diecut is by Sizzix and the flowers are Prima Marketing. The clear sentiment sticker is also by Diecuts With A View. Now to tell you about my "dreaded" job for this afternoon. My hubby and I are going to clean out our large freezer in the garage. (Yep, in this 100+ degree heat.) It has had a shelf collapse plus some ice cream melted to the bottom of it last summer....so you can see this is not going to be a quick or easy job. :) But it is one that really needs doing. I keep trying to think about how nice it will be when it is finished....all the meats, etc. will be put together and organized. (At least for a few weeks....wink). So think about me this afternoon while you are in air conditioning crafting, etc. doing something lovely and I am doing something yucky. :)

I think I'll have to water them in my swimsuit again....that way I can get in the pool when I get hot. ;) I'm beginning to think I planted too many flowers back in the spring. has a pin and pearls challenge going on. I love to see cards with pins but I always have a hard time using them. :) I just used some plain straight pins stuck in the ribbon. The patterned paper and cardstock are by We R Memory Keepers. I used a Sizzix die to cut the felt border plus a Sizzix embossing folder for the numbers at the bottom. The vellum words and clear sentiment sticker are by Diecuts With A View. The pretty yellow flower is by Prima Marketing.
Hope your Saturday was a good one. After a busy morning of cleaning house and catching up the laundry (plus ironing), I spent a relaxing afternoon at the pool with my husband. :) I fixed the family a big pot of speghetti with salad and hot garlic bread for dinner plus a wonderful carrot cake triffle for dessert. We then went back outside and sit on the front porch til nine o'clock. I love, love, love staying outside this time of year. :) I am listening to thunder now though as I type this so I guess I came in just in the nick of time. :) We could use some rain as everything is very dry. How is your Friday treating you? I've had a busy one with no time to visit my craft studio. I had full intention of spending a couple of hours creating after lunch but errands prevented that. Had to visit the grocery store and then pharmacy (in this heat no less....wink). After getting it all put away, I then decided to get a head start on tonight's dinner. Trying some new recipes and it took longer than I expected....so two hours later, I finally get to walk out of the kitchen. But when everyone eats that delicious "Seafood Pie" and Tangy Sweet Slaw, it will be worth it (oh, and did I mention "Carrot Cake Triffle?") What time is dinner, right? Wink. :)
Now on to today's card....Creative Card Crew has a "wings" challenge so I immediately thought of butterflies (which I have a weakness for). So if you are doing a butterfly card, then you need to check out what Flutterby Wednesday has going on too, right? :) Their challenge is to have some polka dots on your crafty creation. Last but not least, Freshly Brewed has a weekly "yellow" challenge going on. I used some Bazzill Dotted Swiss and some polka dot ribbon from Michael's. The stamps are by Unity Stamp Company while the embossing folder is by Sizzix. The sentiment was done with one of my favorite tools...the Dymo Caption Maker with clear tape. I found an image from Crafty Secrets that has a bunch of "wildlife" animals having a picnic (what could be more summer than that?). :) The birthday stamp is one I've had over six months from Hampton Art. The bottom row of pearls has exactly 13 (found these pearls at Michael's). The diecuts were done with my Sizzix eClips (LOVE that machine). The cardstock is by Diecuts With A View.

I also did this card and it fits four different challenges going on at present.

Party Dog Card

Waking up to a beautiful Tuesday morning (if you don't count how hot it is outside). :) Have a card to share that fits three different challenges. First, Cupcake Crafts Challenge has one called "things with tails." The Shabby Tea Room has an embossing (dry or wet) challenge. Then there is the "show a tag" challenge over at Simon Says Stamp. I decided to use a stamp set by Chicken Girl Designs called Birthday Wishes since a dog and a balloon both have "tails." :) I cut a tag with my Sizzix eClips plus used an embossing folder by Sizzix. The cardstock and patterned papers are by Diecuts With A View. Some small brads and foam tape finished up "Party Dog" card (foam tape under balloons). What are your Tuesday plans? I did all my "ugh" chores yesterday so looking forward to a nice summer day of crafting, reading, and swimming (with a little "cooking" thrown in---since my family is strange and likes "hot" meals). Wink. :)

Quick post tonight since it is late and I'm verrry sleepy (please excuse any typos). :) This card fits three challenges. Sentimental Sunday's is to be inspired by a song (I used an old one by The Beatles). The Cards blog has a "waves" challenge. I based the card on the Unity Stamp Company Sketch Challenge (for their kit of the month club). The waves and striped patterned papers are by Echo Park. I used some Stickles by Ranger to add some "sparkling" waves. :) My friendly sun diecut was done with the Sizzix eClips (Vacation cartridge used). The rubberstamps are by Unity Stamp Company. How was your Monday? Mine was filled with lots and lots of "chores" so tomorrow should be a breeze. :)

Another quick posts....wow, two in one day. :) This card fits two challenges going on at present. First, Unity Stamp Company has a "tooty fruity" challenge where you have to have fruit on your creation. I used a watermelon stamp from one of their sets released last month. The card was based on a sketch at the Papertake Weekly. I'm pleased with this one but I think it is because I love red ric rac. :) See you soon.

Butterflies Challenge Card

Found some time to "play" this afternoon and did a card that fits three challenges. Sentimental Sunday's challenge is to be inspired by a song. I used the lyrics from a song by Maroon 5. Stamptacular Sunday has a color challenge to use hot pink, tan, black and white. I used the sketch over at Card Patterns for inspiration. The butterfly stamp is by Unity Stamp Company and the embossing folder is by Sizzix.
Hope you are staying cool. The summer heat has arrived in full force at our house. I go out in the afternoons in my swim suit to water all the flowers. :) Not the prettiest sight but better than passing out in the heat. Wink. :) Another first today is my youngest daughter has gone to a summer science "camp" for two weeks. It is the first time I have ever been apart from her that long. I think she will fare better with it than me. :) Visit again soon, I'm going to post some pictures of some of my blooming flowers (but not me watering them in my swimsuit). Wink, wink. :)

Believing Butterflies Card

It's been awhile since I took the time to do a card challenge. I only did one card this week (Gasp!...staying outside too much. Wink.) and it fits three challenge sites. First, Cupcake Craft Challenge's was to use orange, yellow, green and white on your card. City Crafter Challenge was to use paint and recyled cardboard. And last but not least the Paper Play Challenge was a "Summer Citrus Splash" (use oranges, yellows and greens). The paper colors were done with paint chips. I stamped the leopard backgrounds and butterflies with black ink and then rubbed acrylic paint over them with my fingers. I used a big Sizzix tag die to cut the cardboard. The stamps are by Unity Stamp Company, the flowers are by Prima Marketing and the ribbons are from Michael's. I'm in a terrible dilema. I miss my card making but "nature" is calling me outside. :) Flowers, birds, pool, reading outside are a powerful deterrent. Wink. :) Hope you have a great weekend planned. Having a nice quiet one at home....after an exciting one last week. (We went to Memphis and saw Steve Martin "live." Had tickets on the THIRD row. Woo Hoo!)

I can't believe another month has rolled by. I have been a bad girl and not posted on this blog in a month. Yipes, where does the time go? :) Well this time of year, it goes outside. :) I have lots of flowers that need tending plus it is too pretty to stay inside much. The pool is too inviting plus I love to sit outside with a good book. It has been a beautiful spring day here in Alabama. I've enjoyed being outside on the patio reading and messing with my flowers. It's hard to believe how awful the weather was Wednesday and what devastation those tornadoes left behind. Our town was extremely lucky and suffered no physical damages. We were without power for nearly two days but that is nothing compared to the suffering towns nearby are going thru. Be thankful for what you have and keep Alabama in your thoughts. Have a quick post for you before I turn in for the night. Hoping I can type this before I fall asleep. Today was a busy day and I am super tired. :) Tonight's card features stamps by Market Street Stamps, a frame by Sizzix and patterned paper by Prima Marketing. I based the card on a sketch over at the Papertake Weekly Challenge #54. Whew, I "think" I made it before nodding off. :) Have to get up early and plant lots of flowers. No April's Fool Cards

It's no April Fool joke that today is new stamp release from The {Stamps} Of Life. This month's set is a cute one called houses4us. I'm going to share two cards I whipped up with it. ;) Go over to the {Stamps} Of Life gallery too to see what the other design team gals did. There is some awesome work this month.

If you noticed I took a "little" break from my blog and wondered why, I'll confess I had a case of "spring fever." :) I've been busy getting things ready for lots of flowers outside. I've been planting seeds (inside) for many different flowers. This is the first time I've done this and it has been so much fun! You should see how excited I get when they first "peek" out of the soil. I had saved those foam egg cartons all winter. Use a paper piecer to poke some hole and fill them with seed
starter dirt. Mist the dirt, sprinkle your seeds, lightly cover and mist again....and then wait. Most of my seeds have sprouted in four days! :) I'll try to remember and take pictures later of the flowers!!!! I also try and post more cards on my blog this month! :)

Happy Spring Card

Stampin' for the Weekend has a springtime challenge going on. I had the perfect card made for it too that had not been posted. I submitted it to the Paper Crafts Go-To Sketches/Volume 2 call this week but alas it was "rejected." So when I saw the Stampin'for the Weekend challenge I knew I could use it for that. The patterned paper is by Graphic 45 from their new "Once Upon A Springtime" collection. The diecut letters are by Sizzix (a new set that I am in "love" with called Butterfly Kisses.) I used white chipboard by Grafix for those letters. The word "happy" is a rubber stamp by The {Stamps} Of Life while the brads are by American Crafts. I finished it off with some baker's twine by Pebbles. Although this card did not make the "cut" for the Paper Crafts call, I did get a "happy email" from them for another card. (The card selected was based on sketch 71.) :) They received close to 3,000 entries for this call and had 288 spots to fill so I felt quite honored to have a card chosen. Eat Dessert First Card

PaperPlay Challenges has a "Stamp It Out" challenge going on this week. Since rubber stamping is my first love, how could I resist? :) This card uses one of the new Hampton Art releases with a fun sentiment and a cute little cupcake. I tried a new color combination (for me anyway) of using grey as my main color but with a touch of red and white. I rather like it. :) I think it may be prettier in person than it shows up in my photo. The hearts pattern embossing folder is by Sizzix. I did a bit of coloring on the cupcake with a Copic marker and put some red rhinestones (by Doodlebug Design) on it. Finished it off with some striped red and white ribbon....fast and fun. :)
Hope you are staying warm....We are having some very cold weather today with sleet mixed in for good measure. Course this is the day I have to get out and go to the grocery store too....but how good that made the hot chocolate when I finally got home. Wink. :) Do you add anything to your hot chocolate? Cake Candles Action Card

Simon Says Stamp and Show has a challenge of "Show a Childhood Memory." I did a fun birthday card that uses a new Hampton Art wooden stamp. The vintage image is by Crafty Secrets. I used my trusty Dymo Caption Maker for the "happy birthday." (I sometimes think I would be lost without my label maker.) :) I finished it out with some photo corners by Heidi Swapp, small flower brads by Making Memories and embossing folder by Sizzix. The pretty textured cardstock is by Bazzill.
I fixed one of my emergency "meals" for dinner tonight. What is an emergency meal? Well, it is one that I can whip up in less than 30 minutes and get out of the kitchen in a hurry too (for those nights when you are super tired). I whipped up some blueberry wheat waffles and bacon. I found the mix at Dollar General a few weeks ago. It was quick, easy and tasted pretty good. Do you have emergency meals?

The Paper Variety Friendship Challenge

The Paper Variety challenge this week is one for friendship. I used some new stamps by Hampton Art that are based on new Graphic 45 collections. I think this was my first time to ever use a grey and navy color combo too. After I did this one though, I liked the colors so much that I ended up doing four more in the same colors! :) The cardstock is by Bazzill and the stars were done by some old Family Treasures punches in my stash. I ended up putting a grey pearl in the center of the stars (by Basic Grey). Fast and fun card....thanks Paper Variety for the fun challenge.

The Colour Create Challenge #63 is to use lemon, green and white together. Who can resist playing with such fun colors? :) My card features one of Hampton Art's new wooden rubber stamps with a cute turtle image. It is the perfect stamp for when you "forget" someone's birthday. I colored it with Copic markers. The ric rac was done with a EK Success border punch. The ribbon is some I found at Michael's. This was a easy peasy card but I'm happy with the results. This card also fits a challenge going on at the Simon Says Stamp blog of "animal antics."

Found a little time to create this afternoon and this is what I came up with for two different challenges. First it is based on the Card Patterns weekly sketch plus it fits the Stampacular Sunday Challenge (three designer paper, three ribbon and three flowers). The stamps are by Hampton Art and the papers are by Diecuts With A View. The flowers are by Prima Marketing while the brads are by Karen Foster. The velvet ribbon is also by Prima Marketing and the other two ribbons are from Hobby Lobby. The large scalloped diecut border is by Sizzix.
So did you have a fun weekend? We went to a movie this afternoon and saw "No Strings Attached." I had a bad case of "cabin fever" and needed to get out and about for a few hours. Impression Obsession Purple Challenge Card

Impression Obsession is having a purple challenge. Purple is one of those colors that just makes you feel like Cleopatra when you work with it. :) I used a large IO wedding dress stamp plus sentiment stamp. The scroll dies were cut with my Sizzix eClips. The image is a rub-on by Royal & Langnickel. The purple flowers are by Prima Marketing while the orchid heart brads are by Making Memories. The cardstock is by Bazzill and the ink pad was a Vivid Purple by Clearsnap.
So we are under the winter weather again....icy rain predicted for tonight. I think that calls for getting the crockpot cranked up tomorrow. There's nothing like a big pot of homemade soup when it is cold outside. Simon Says Stamp Bingo Challenge Card

There is a bingo challenge going on at Simon Says Stamp. What is a bingo challenge you ask? You pick out three things from a "bingo" type graph that Simon Says Stamp has pictured. You can choose from a straight line or horizontal, vertical or diagonal. I went diagonal and chose: brads, flowers, ribbon. The rubber stamp is from Hampton Art (based on a new Graphic 45 image). This stamp is from the Curtain Call 1 set. The rub-on is by Rhonna Farrer, the flowers are by Prima Marketing and the brad is by The Paper Studio. I loved the way this card turned out.
I have to show you another card I made with this same image too. I'm having way too much fun with this mime. :)

I have way too many new stamps to play with right now. Just kidding, I could never have too many stamps. It does call for drastic measures though (wink). I went to the grocery store this morning and bought the ingredients for three crockpot "meals." Yep, new stamps call for the "crockpot." :) The weather is cold and yucky so these will be good to take the chill off too. Tonight I fixed my "famous" Red Beans and Rice. As much as I love polka dots, I couldn't resist the challenge going on at Simon Says Stamp. We're being challenged to show some polka dots. :) Two of my favorite companies have partnered to create some fabulous new stamp images. Hampton Art is doing some great cling stamps that are Graphic 45 images. How great is that? :) This card uses one of those stamp sets. It's called Curtain Call 3 and I'm telling you I've had the most fun with this set. :) The papers are by Diecuts With A View while the rub-on is by Royal & Langnickel. The pretty flower is by Prima Marketing and the polka dot brad is by Making Memories. You know how I love vintage images so these new stamps are right up my alley. :) All right, you twisted my arm....I'll show you one more that I made this afternoon with this set (like you have to twist my arm....wink, wink). :)

I knew I wanted these stamps the first time I saw them. But then they arrived and I'm thinking, thinking, thinking how to use them. :) I found some rub-on quotes that I thought would be "different" to use with the street musicians image. Wedding cards are always fun to make so I couldn't resist the challenge of making one at Cupcake Craft Challenges this week. :) Please take my word when I say that this card is prettier in person than in my "bad" photograph. The patterned papers and tags are by Graphic 45 (love their papers). The rub-ons are by Royal & Langnickel and the flowers are by Prima Marketing. The pretty swirl diecut was done with my Sizzix eClips (used the Hope & Strength Alphabet design cartridge). The embossing folder is also by Sizzix (#656796 Diamond & Tropical Paisley Set). This card will also fit the challenge at Paper Sundaes of picking out your favorite challenge of theirs from the last year. I chose Challenge 49 of "cut it out" and cut out the bride image from the patterned paper. Pile It Up is also doing an anything goes challenge so it fits that one too. Am I on a roll or what? :)

New and Blue Challenge Card

The first challenge for the new year of 2011 at Stampin' for the Weekend is called "new and blue." Anything new from your "stash", or a baby, house, etc. theme and the color blue were the requirements for this challenge. I created a fun new "welcome" baby card. The photo image is from Lunagirl (Vintage Baby and Toddler Photos). The "onesie" diecut was done with my Sizzix eClips and the Special Occasions design cartridge. The rubber stamps are by Hampton Art. All the papers on this one are by Diecuts With A View. Fun to make and fun to look at too I hope. :)
We are on day five of school being out because of snow. As I've said before, snow is rare where we live. I can never remember school being out over two days because of snow (and I'm ancient). :) It came at a great time too. My oldest is heading back to college this weekend and this gave her and younger sister a lot of time to enjoy being together. They've watched their favorite shows together (on DVD), played games and even worked together packing (for the return trip to college). It has been a wonderful winter wonderland week. School is out for the third day in a row because of snow. Snow is rare where we live and when it does come, it stops everything. We have enjoyed it so much! Looking out has been a picturesque scene....almost like "living" in one of those beautiful calendar scenes. :) The sun has come out today though so I guess our big beautiful snowman will be melting. :) The last time it snowed this much was at least ten years ago. Simon Says Stamp and Show Your Newest Stamp

There's a challenge of showing your newest stamp at Simon Says Stamp until January 9th. The timing of this challenge was perfect as I had just "won" some new stamps on Ebay. (I love to say "won" since my funny hubby always says he "lost" when I "won" on Ebay. Wink, wink.) :) The stamps are some new ones by Penny Black of a little girl named Betsy Bluebell. I woke up to a rainy day which is perfect "card creating" weather. All the Christmas decorations are packed and put away for another year. The house has been cleaned and now I am ready to enjoy a day in my craft room. My favorite months are January and February. I'm sharing a card today that fits two challenges going on at Cupcake Crafts Challenge (white is white) and The Shabby Tea Room (use eleven elements). I have a new stamp set by Penny Black that is so much fun to color. This image is from that set (think it is called Betsy Bluebell). I colored it with my Copic markers. The pretty photo corner diecuts were cut with the Sizzix eClips (All Occasion design cartridge used). The brads are by Basic Grey (colors) and The Paper Studio (black).
Hope your Tuesday was a good one. Today was the last day of Christmas vacation for my youngest daughter. We decided to load up and go to the movies. My oldest daughter and I went to see "The Black Swan" while my youngest went to see Gulliver's Travels. We did a little shopping too (should say mostly looking since I am always broke after Christmas). But a few things did manage to find their way home with us. My oldest will be moving into her first apartment when she goes back to college (no more dorm living) in a couple of weeks. She found sheets and a quilt for her "new" bedroom. I can't wait to visit and spend a night with her when she gets moved. :) I found some pretty new sheets too on sale plus a small plant stand that begged to come live with me. Wink. First, let me say "Happy New Year!!!!" :) Of course the first of the month also means new stamps from The {Stamps} Of Life. The set for this month is called "butterfly2build" and it is a real beauty. The flower and the ladybug cards used the "wings" from the new butterfly2build set. You know me I try to think outside the box with a set to get more uses and looks with it. I finally got the last of the Christmas decorations put up today. I had it all cleaned up except for a couple of trees which go in the attic. Had to wait on my busy hubby to help me with those. This card is based on the sketch at Just Us Girls this week. The FedEx delivery man had delivered some pretty new crocheted flowers by American Crafts Friday. They were "begging" to be played with yesterday. :) The second I saw the sketch at Just Us Girls I knew how I would use one of them. :) The swirl diecut is by Sizzix. The patterned paper, brad and rhinestones are by My Mind's Eye. The rub-ons are by Royal & Langnickel. Easy peasy card....thanks Just Us Girls. :)

Three Owls Birthday Card

I loved the sketch over at Card Patterns challenge site this week. I love to use circles on my cards (which is a good excuse to get out those circle punches hidden away in a drawer). :) The patterned paper by My Mind's Eye reminded me of stamps by Hampton Art that I have. The trim is by My Mind's Eye and the embossing folder by Sizzix. The label maker and clear tape are by Dymo. The trusty circle punch is by EK Success. The Card Patterns sketch made this a fast and easy card.....thanks Card Patterns. :) Do you have a fun Sunday planned? We have the new Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe in from Netflix. 25 Card

I got to "play" yesterday afternoon and created this card for three different challenge sites. First, Charisma Cardz has a "With Love Christmas" challenge. Second, All Sorts has a "Twas The Night Before Christmas" challenge (of which I had the "perfect" stamp). :) And last but not least, Crazy 4 Challenges has a challenge to create a square card. I used the Sizzix eClips for the numbers and tree diecuts. The patterned paper is by Basic Grey. The "twas the night..." rubber stamp is by Hampton Art. The jewels are by Prima Marketing and the large sentiment brad is by Queen & Company. Boy/Men Cards

I'm sharing two cards that fit two different challenge sites today. Papertake Weekly has a "Penny For The Guy" challenge going on while Paper Sundaes has a "For The Boys" challenge.

October Afternoon's Seaside Collection had some lovely vintage patterned paper that was the "inspiration" for this card. That buff looking man in a swimsuit just begged to be a "hero." :) The diecut words and borders were done with the Sizzix eClips while the rub-ons are by Royal & Langnickel. Fast and fun card. :)

I had some new paper accessories paper by My Mind's Eye (Alphabet Soup Collection) that screamed to be a little boy's birthday card. :) The rubber stamps are by Hampton Art (border and sentiment). I used my Sizzix eClips to cut out the word "boy." The flower is by Prima Marketing and the brad by My Mind's Eye. I finished it off with some ribbon by We R Memory Keepers. I was happy with the way this card turned out. :)

Bountiful Thanks Card

There is a "Give Thanks" challenge going on at Tuesday Throwdown this week (number24). My card has a sentiment stamp by Hampton Art. The image is by Crafty Secret and all the papers are by Diecuts With A View. The ribbon is by We R Memory Keepers and the brads are by Recollections (found at Michael's). Easy peasy card. :) Since it is dark and rainy outside this morning, I'm having an awfully hard time getting out of bed and off the laptop. :) It would be sooo easy to go back to sleep but then all that laundry and other "fun" stuff wouldn't get done. Pink Challenge

Stamp Something has a "Pink Challenge" going on this week. I have two cards to share for this one. The first one is a baby "welcome" card. The alphabet stamps are by Hampton Art. The fringed trim is by My Mind's Eye. All of the borders were done with punches by EK Success while the butterfly punch is a Martha Stewart. The label maker and clear tape used are by Dymo. This card is a easy one. :)

My second card is a new job congratulations card. It features stamps by Hampton Art and patterned paper by Cosmo Cricket. The gathered ribbon is by American Crafts. Again I pulled out my Dymo label maker but the tape is some "old" by Around The Block. :) The pearls are by KaiserCraft. Another fast and easy card. I have gotten up to a dark and rainy day. Perfect weather for staying in and playing "catch-up" on a lot of chores and hopefully time to "play" too. Have a great day and stop by again soon. :)

November Stamps Of Life Release

It's new stamp time at The {Stamps} Of Life. This month's release is called "flowers2share." I have to confess that I had a lot of fun with this set. :) As I have said before, the quality of these clear stamps make the best impressions. You get crisp, clear images everytime. If you haven't checked out the monthly stamps or special releases, then what are you waiting for? :) It's looking like rain in my neck of the woods. I am the "birthday girl" today so planning on doing what I love best......making cards. It would have been nice to go to Paris instead but you know how that goes. (My oldest daughter is actually in Paris this week......so I guess that's the second best thing if you can't go yourself. Wink.) :) Have a great Tuesday and come back soon. Three Challenge Cards

I have three challenge site cards to share today. (Maybe it will make up for my being absent the past few weeks.) :) My first card is for the Cupcake Craft Challenge of "Boys and Their Toys." I had a new paper package by October Afternoon which had the perfect sticker for this challenge. I did the black part of the sentiment with the computer but the "happy birthday" was done with stamps by The {Stamps} Of Life. The ribbons and red glitter brads are by Little Yellow Bicycle.

City Crafter Challenge Blog has a fun one going on this week. I love vintage plus Rome so couldn't resist. This one has a stamp by Hampton Art. The embossing folder is by Sizzix. The pretty borders at the top and bottom are a decorative tape by Prima Marketing. I did the sentiment with a label tape (Dymo Caption Maker). The black photo corners are by Canson.

My third and final card for today is for Tuesday Taggers. Their challenge this week was to do project with the theme "Nursery Rhymes." I used the "Baby Foo Foo" nursery rhyme by Mother Goose as my inspiration. The perfect patterned paper for this is by Prima Marketing.
The lace is by Graphic 45. The flowers are also by Prima Marketing while the brads are by My Mind's Eye. The blue cardstock is by Bazzill.

Would you believe I had enough scraps to do yet another card for The Play Date Cafe Challenge? Had to make another card using those fab colors! :) This card uses stamps by Hampton Art and a diecut by Sizzix. The touch of silver foil board is by Grafix and cardstock is by Bazzill.

Diva Hello Card

What do you do when you have left over cardstock in three fabulous colors? Why you make another card of course. I was so pleased with my first card for The Play Date Challenge that I wanted to do another one. I know I've used dark blue and green but never with the added grey. It is a striking color mix. This card uses stamps by Hampton Art and a Vivid Inky Blue ink pad. The cardstock is by Bazzill and the border punch is by Martha Stewart (found this one at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago). The small flowers are by Prima Marketing and the brads are by Basic Grey.

Got an email from my daughter newly arrived in England. She is getting settled in her dorm room and making new friends. She was excited because she had had dinner in a "real" English pub. :) Thanks for stopping by. Better get a move on, I have errands galore to do.

Beautiful Friend Card

I was able to do a card early this morning for The Play Date Cafe challenge based on the photo above. I was intrigued by the colors. I used a dark blue, a kiwi green and a silver foil board for my colors. The rubber stamp is by Hampton Art which I stamped with a Vivid Inky Blue pad by Clearsnap. The embossing folder is by Sizzix.

I'm breathing a little easier today as my oldest daughter made it safely to England. She has gotten to her dorm and called us tonight. :) My youngest daughter and I went to a movie this afternoon. We saw the new comedy "You Again" and laughed a lot! :) Fun movie.....Betty White is a hoot in it. :)

Hello Autumn Card

Today's card fits the bill for three challenges. The Stamp Something and Paper Sundaes challenge is to use fall colors plus the design is based on the sketch at Friday Sketcher's. I used an image by Crafty Secrets and rubber stamps by Hampton Art. The large leaf brads are by Around The Block. The burlap trim is some I found at Reasonable Ribbon. The cardstock is by We R Memory Keepers.
Better get going for the day. I'm heading outside to plant pansies and chrysanthemums in pots to "pretty" up the patio. My oldest daughter left about an hour ago headed for the airport. She is flying to Chester, England to begin a semester of college there. If I stay busy planting flowers then I won't be worrying about her. Who am I kidding? I'm going to be planting and worrying. I'm a mom, I worry. Wink. :)

Coffee and Cream Colored Butterfly Card

PaperPlay has a "coffee and cream" challenge this week. You are to use only shades of brown. There is also an "anything goes" challenge at Charisma Cardz too that this card will fit. :) The rubber stamp is by Hampton Art. The patterned cardstock is by Diecuts With A View. The fabric lace is by 7 Gypsies and the rose ribbon is by Webster's Pages. I did this card early before the carpenters arrived. Who can create with all of their hammering going on??? :)
I took my oldest daughter out to a movie and dinner tonight. She is leaving for England Saturday so it was a last "hurrah" for us. We went to see "The Town" which we both enjoyed.

Thinking Of You Card

Sharing a card that I did for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge grid challenge going on this week. I used a Sizzix embossing folder for my "grid" work. I also used the sketch over at 2Sketches4U (for sketch 62). The rubber stamps are by Hampton Art. The brad is by The Paper Studio and the lace is by Prima Marketing. The green cardstock is by Worldwin Papers.

I have been missing from action for several days at my blog. I have carpenters doing work outside at present and before long will be inside too. While I am happy to have the work done, it is stressful trying to live and operate "normally" with them here. :) I also have my oldest daughter getting ready to leave for college this weekend. She will be leaving for England where she will attend one semester. So it is crazy, hectic, and sad (for the mom in me) at my house for the next week or two or three. :) Thanks for stopping by. Be Worth Knowing Card

I have a busy weekend coming up because it is a "birthday" weekend. My youngest daughter will be celebrating her special day so I'm posting this before it gets too crazy here (and I forget to). :) The new Color Create Challenge is to use red, gold and white (or cream) with the optional extra of Christmas or Oriental thrown in. I love Oriental themes but for some reason rarely use them in my card making. This was a good excuse to dig out a new geisha stamp by Stamp Francisco. Mention red to me anytime and I am "in." The card has some Oriental lanterns embossed on red foil cardstock by American Crafts. The embossing folder is by Cuttlebug. The saying by Confucius is a rub-on by Royal and Langnickel. The pretty jeweled sticker is by Prima Marketing. This card is really pretty "in person." The embossed red foil is so rich looking. Fall Is In The Air Card

The challenge going on at Paper Play now is called "Autumn Is A Comin.' I had a new Sizzix embossing folder delivered yesterday that was perfect for this one. Charisma Cardz also has a challenge of "something new or not done before." I used chalk pencils for the first time coloring the raised embossed design on this card. I used some small dotted banner stamps by My Mind's Eye and then stamped letters to spell "fall" on them. (The alphabet stamps are by Hampton Art.) The orange alphabet stickers are by My Little Shoebox. Throw in some orange gingham paper and dotted ribbon and you have a easy/peasy card. :) Hope you have had a great day. I put a roast in the crockpot this morning to have some extra crafting time. We're having them open faced on some whole wheat hoagie buns with French Onion gravy. :) I also baked some brownies for a decadent ice-cream, caramel, nuts and brownie dessert. Raise The Bar has a challenge going on called "URL"ooking Good. You are to use your blog as a source of inspiration for a card (header, colors, title, etc.). So are you surprised that I created a Mona Lisa "smile" card? :) I guess you won't be surprised too much either that I collect Mona Lisa rubber stamps. I have a binder full of Mona images and I'm sorry to say that I don't remember who made this image. All the pretty ink colors are Tim Holtz Distress inks though (that much I do know.) :) The alphabet stamps to spell "smile" are by Hampton Art. Time Flies Diva Card

Hope you are having a great Labor Day. :) Sharing a card I whipped up yesterday afternoon. This one fall into several challenge site categories. First, I used the sketch over at Just Us Girls (Challenge 49) while following the recipe at Sentimental Sunday (Challenge 19...Use 1 solid paper, 2 patterned papers, 3 embellishments plus a sentiment). Then Paper Sundaes has a mixed mediums (it is number 34) challenge of using Copics with some other kind of coloring medium (I used chalk pencils). Last but not least is the Stampacular Sunday challenge to distress it (no. 75). The rubber stamps are by Hampton Art (the stamped images were colored with Copic Ciao markers and then touched up with Createcolor Chalk pencils). I thought it would be fun to use aleopard and zebra patterned papers (by BoBunny and Making Memories). The flowers and the printed twill are by Graphic 45.

Better run. We are having a fun stay at home Labor day. All of us have spent the morning doing what we want. This afternoon we are playing games, watching movies, etc. together. Goodbye summer 2010....you were fun but oh so hot. :) Going to hate saying goodbye to all the hummingbirds too. What grand free entertainment they have been. Their feeders the last few days have been busy, busy, busy! (Having to fill them almost everyday!...I think I must be feeding some who have already started migrating South.) Course September means that I will also be saying goodbye to my oldest daughter in a couple of weeks. She is going to be attending college in England this fall so that falls under the "happy AND sad" (not to mention the "broke" category). Sure all you moms know what I mean. Photo-Synthesis Challenge #3

Sharing a card I did for the third challenge at Photo-Synthesis. Two photos are posted for inspiration for your projects. I chose the second photo posted there. This card uses rubber stamps by Hampton Art. The patterned paper is by Diecuts With A View. The lattice embossing folder and diecuts are by Sizzix. Four tiny black brads by Recollections finish it off.
This card also fits the "lattice" challenge going on at Crazy 4 Challenges too.
I'm pleased to report that the repairman came and I am now a "cool" crafter again. :) Picture me dancing happily (at least until I get the repair bill or for that matter the power bill). Wink! :)

Sunshine Card

You know you are wanting to make a card pretty bad when your air conditioning is not working in your craft room! My craft room is upstairs and evidently our central unit for the upstairs is on the "blink" today because it is hot! I've called the repairman and hopefully it will get fixed soon. I don't like crafting or trying to sleep when it is this hot. :) I wanted to make a card for three different challenge sites but my brain kept telling me to go downstairs where it was cool. :) It also kept telling me to take some stamps, etc. downstairs but then the "lazy voice" said you can take the heat. :) So I took the heat and this is what I came up with. The challenge at City Crafter is called "Let Your Light Shine" this week (need to have some form of light such as a sun, etc.). Well, how perfect to have three embossed suns on a card when I am burning up in my craft room! :) The sun is an embossing folder by Sizzix. Then Papertake Weekly has a challenge of using just one of something. I used one long strip of ribbon by American Crafts.
Tuesday Throwdown has a ribbon with a twist challenge too. You are to use ribbon in a creative way. I folded and stapled my ribbon....not sure how creative that is but you have to remember how "hot" my brain was when making this card (Wink.) :) The sentiment stamps on this one are by The {Stamps} Of Life. I also used a border punch by EK Success. So there you have a "hot" card made by a "hot" crafter in a "hot" studio. :) Thanks for stopping by.
